This year's theme for World Water Day, celebrated on March 22, 2024, is "Water for Peace". Water is a basic need and a human right; as the effects of climate change increase, the need for collaboration between nations becomes more imperative than ever. We are highlighting some of the ways we can all be helping water conservation efforts.

1. Support water conservation organisations

One of the best ways to make an impact is to donate to organisations that work to converse water and/or have initiatives that act locally/globally. We love the work that water.org is doing to bring communities safe drinking water!

2. Volunteer in your community and join a beach, stream, or wetland cleanup

We partner with Beach Collective, a global organisation that works at a local level on ocean and beach clean ups. Check out our Silt and Terra collections that help support this amazing organisation! So far, we’ve collected 3,251 kgs of plastic from beaches in Lebanon, the Philippines, Israel, Kakuma, and Brazil.

3. Reduce water waste and consider investing in water-saving technologies

By monitoring irrigation systems, switching to water-efficient appliances like showerheads and washing machines, and implementing drought-resistant plants, we can greatly reduce the water waste within our households. On an individual level, some easy lifestyle changes anyone can enforce are turning off the tap while brushing teeth, fixing leaks, and taking shorter showers.

4. Use and dispose of harmful waste properly

When disposing of waste materials, keep in mind that anything that goes into the soil can contaminate water sources. For example, household cleaners, pesticides, paint, or motor oil should be properly disposed of, not dumped outside or down the drain.

It might not always feel like it, but every bit we can do to help the planet is important. We hope these tips were helpful! Let us know what you think in the comments below.
