GNGR Bees is committed to ethically produce garments & other products from materials that have been disposed, reclaimed, up cycled and recycled in partnership and in aid of communities & social enterprises around the globe. We seek transparent, empowering and ethical work for fashion that does not cost the future of our planet, nature and all the living beings that share it.

HOW WE SAVE THE WORLD

and how you get involved every time you support us

GNGR Bees was created from the principle that we already have all the materials necessary to do something new and that companies should have a real purpose that goes beyond selling a product.

Driven by these values, a little bit of creativity and a whole lot of passion, it is possible to reclaim what was once labelled waste and transform it into a high quality, lasting product to endure the toughest workouts and still make you look beautiful whilst empowering everyone involved in its creation and the whole planet around us.

The magic behind what we do isn’t in the clothes themselves, but the story they tell the world.

The process of creation for anything that is designed at GNGR Bees, starts with the “why” instead of the “what” and then once the purpose for that creation has been found, we gear our efforts to focus on the ethical and sustainable manufacturing of the products.

THE WHY

creating gngr bees starting backwards

The company was created in 2019 to empower the planet, and to do so, GNGR Bees needed to be created starting with the “WHY”.

Words such as “sustainable” and “eco-friendly” kept coming around by companies that sourced products a little better or from marketeers that saw people wanting a better planet. Although only very few companies were doing the real work that would be worthy of calling themselves “better” most of these businesses were still solely driven by profit.

“gngr bees is a business driven by purpose, not profit”

There was no reason to create something new, unless it was made to challenge everything that already existed and to set a new standard in the sustainable world. Our values derive from transparency and honesty: recognising where we are and what we have achieved whilst being transparent about the things we are yet to do and find solutions for.

With much thought, a clear vision and a world to save, GNGR Bees was born:

  • reclaiming materials to clean our oceans and land & keeping our animals and biodiversity safe
  • partnering with small social enterprises to empower the people and keep culture and craftsmanship alive
  • producing ethically and fairly to increase the standards of the industry
  • donating profits back to empower important causes (we donate 5% of  profits for every activewear piece sold and some times 100% of profits from partnership pieces such as our freenimal top)
  • creating projects that make this planet better for all

the secret ingredient

passion, people, planet

Everything you find at GNGR Bees comes with its own story. Opting for a single-use plastic free supply chain meant we needed to find alternatives. This led us to the beginning of an unforgettable journey that created lasting partnerships, development of projects & meeting people that think as we do. Our partners, our community and nature is where we find inspiration to embrace and do more every day.

MEET OUR PARTNERS

Our partner in Africa, Azizi life, aims to participate in local initiatives for the development of Rwandan communities, working towards physical and spiritual wholeness for all. They are also committed to paying an agreed-upon fair wage to the artisans as soon as we receive their products. The additional income from the sale of their art allows the craftspeople & their families to afford many things that they struggled to get before, such as medical insurance, school material for their children, hygene and cleaning product, a more balanced diet and financial independece.

Together, we have developed the Eco Shipping Tote - an upcycled cement sack with handles that would allow us to ship our activewear single-use plastic free and allow you to keep the tote forever, re-using it as they would like.

Booteek is a social enterprise that aims to link underprivileged women in Sri Lanka with the rest of the world by marketing products handmade by them. This project started as a workshop in needlework for students at the Chitra Lane school for the special child. Today, it is a collective of their mothers and other women from Sri Lanka’s low-income bracket.

In addition to working with the women, they recently started training a team of young adults with special needs, to paint and create our packaging from up-cycled waste paper - which is where GNGR Bees comes in. Forget single-use plastic bags to keep your clothes “safe”. When you buy a product from us, they will arrive in these worderful upcycled tea sacks that have been painted just for you and that you can use and re-use as many times as you would like.

We are partnering with Earfh, a new social network that is set to revolutionase how people and businesses give to charities. Through them we will be able to empower you to contribute to projects you are passionate about with one click: from trees to children’s hospitals, orangutans to disaster relief. Our first collaboration together is about blue carbon!

Born Free is an animal charity that’s passionate about wild animal welfare and Compassionate Conservation, whose mission is to work tirelessly to ensure that all wild animals, whether living in captivity or in the wild, are treated with compassion and respect and are able to live their lives according to their needs. As a leading wildlife charity, they oppose the exploitation of wild animals in captivity and campaign to keep them where they belong – in the wild.

GNGR Bees x Born Free come together to increase awareness of the effects pollution and climate change has on wildlife across the globe and to encourage people to learn and support wildlife conservation and the SDG 15. Our exclusive and limited edition t-shirts made from reclaimed fishing nets will donate 100% of profits to support 3 wildlife projects that Born Freeadvocates for and supports.

Nara is an artisan that is just as passionate about saving the planet as we are. Working locally with fishermen and net repairing facilities, she rescues old fishing nets from the sea and transforms them into a variety of products: sponges, clothing & equipement. Nara has reclaimed, rescued and upcycled fishing nets for years and has received many awards for the beautiful work she does. She now comes on board to source us fishing nets as part of our packaging - another material that has been up cycled and is transformed into a functional, single-use plastic free product exclusively for you.

The Sea Women of Melanesia program empowers indigenous women with scuba diving and marine science skills so they can take an active role in creating and monitoring marine protected areas on their own coral reefs. This program supports the UN Sustainable Development Goals of Gender Equality, Sustainable Communities, and Life Below Water.
